Animating brand identities

Role: Motion Designer

2018 - 2024

Summary: Over the years I've worked on many motion design projects, but I particularly enjoy the process of animating a logo for a client. There's something about capturing the essence of a brand identity in a few short seconds that really excites me! Take a look.

New Horizons

This has got to be one of my favorites! The aim was to incorporate 3 distinct images into this animation:

  1. A light shining down from above

  2. The beams of a lighthouse shining

  3. A road stretching out into the distance

I really enjoyed figuring out how to transition between each element, utilizing the shapes of the logo and then bringing it all together for the reveal at the end.

Take a look at the full brand process here.

The client wanted to highlight the 'cross' at the center of the kite shape, which otherwise might be missed. I worked at leading with the cross, and then utilized a 'fire' and 'paper' effect to lead into the full logo. I enjoyed how vibrant and dynamic this animation felt, and the client loved it.

I also worked with them on a full brand video, and incorporated this logo sting at the end. You can read about that project here.

Teleios Advance Centre

I love how music and sound design can enhance movement and add storytelling to a simple animation. This was an example of simple but clear motion design.

For use in a broader promotional video produced by Horizon Collective, I worked on this simple build of their logo which adds subtle movement and engages the viewer.
